GT3 – ABRacing still in the lead

Four events gone by since the last update, which means eight races. Of these eight races, ABRacing won six of them.

The first of these four events was in Bathurst. This event was dominated by Alexandre Caetano and Fernando Bento, who was the first and second races. ABRacing, took the three podium positions in both races. The remaining ABRacing drivers had a solid event, accomplishing ABRacing’s objectives,

The second event took place in Interlagos. In the first race Alexandre Caetano, had to work hard in the rain to bring home the victory. With some rubbing and a race filled with “fighting for positions” moments, Alexandre was able to take the win. Miguel Lopes, from GhostSpeed came in in 2nd place and 3rd place was for our own Fernando Bento. Carlos Costa had another rough event, since he had to abandon the race when he had problems when pitting. In the second race, who promised to be wet as well, proved to be a surprise, since the rain was practically inexistent. Soon ABRacing drivers sunk in the order, because of the tire choices. But still, ABRacing had a solid performance, accomplishing a 3rd place for Alexandre Caetano and a 4th place for Carlos Costa, who started the race from the back. Christian Manzini ended up in 9th, after a race filled with miscalculations.

The third event was in Zolder. It started with a statement within ABRacing. Jorge Mendes is back! Jorge only lost the race in the pits, for Alexandre Caetano. He managed to bring back his old and usual performances, leading most of the race. ABRacing expects more performances like this from him! The 3rd podium place was for Fernando Bento, who fought hard to get it. In the second race Pedro Contente started from the pole, e he took full advantage of this situation, since he lead most of the race, but he ended up loosing 2 places, ending up in the 3rd place. Fernando Bento ended up in 2nd. Carlos Costa and Christian Manzini also got some points.

The fourth of these events took place in Estoril. In the first race, weather conditions were unstable, resulting in a race that had several moments of wet and dry track conditions. Carlos Costa got his first win in this championship, after a close battle with MST’s Carlos O’Connor. Carlos Costa only got the lead after the pit stop. Fernando Bento finished this race in 3rd place, while Alexandre Caetano ended in 4th. In the second race, Fernando Bento found himself leading the race in the end of the first lap, after starting in the 6th position. Alexandre Caetano and Carlos Costa followed, and soon Carlos Costa started to close the gap to Fernando Bento. Carlos Costa managed to take the lead before the pit stop, and got himself another win. Fernando with another solid performance finished the race in the 2nd place, while Alexandre Caetano ended in 4th again. Daniel Rodrigues got 11th and 7th and Pedro Contente got 7th and 6th.

ABRacing dominates this championship. Alexandre Caetano, Fernando Bento and Carlos Costa stand in the top three positions. Christian Manzini is currently in 6th, Pedro Contente in 10th, Jorge Mendes in 15th and Daniel Rodrigues in 19th.

Next stop is Valencia!

308 Cup – ABRacing withdraws

After a victory in the first race and a podium in the second race by Daniel Rodrigues, ABRacing decided to withdraw all it’s drivers from this promising championship.

ABRacing decided to give more emphasis to other championships, like GT3 and GTO from R4-Sims and GTSeries from PTSims.

ABRacing takes this opportunity to thank Sérgio Pires, for the car liveries, and all who showed their availability to enter this championship.

308 Cup – Knutstorp

First round of R4′s 308 cup, on the same day that Diogo Quaresma and Sérgio Pires are announced has ABRacing drivers.

On the qualify, ABRacing got 5th, 7th and 8th places, by Alexandre Caetano, Daniel Rodrigues and Diogo Quaresma. Sérgio Pires was unable to drive in this event.

The start of the first race was not the best, since Alexandre was knocked out to the last positions. He still recovered to the 7th position. Diogo had some bad luck and dropped to the last positions as well, and was never able to recover much ground. Daniel made a pretty good race, after he dropped to the 17th place in the beginning of the race, he still managed to recover until the 9th position.

In the second race, Alexandre started in the 2nd position, and was able to get the lead right on the start, overtaking Carlos Carvalho, and won the race comfortably. Daniel still managed to run some laps in the 7th position, but he had some bad luck again, dropping to the end of the field by the end of the race. Diogo got heavy damage right on his car, right on the beginning of the race, and took this race as an opportunity to get more experience.

See on the second round of this championship!

Merry Christmas

The ABRacing team wishes you a merry Christmas!

HOHOHO!!

ABRacing on top again!

ABRacing were dominant, accomplishing again 1st and 2nd place finishes in both races in Dubai, by Alexandre Caetano and Fernando Bento. In the first race Alexandre led the whole race, and Fernando starting from 3rd, took the 2nd place from Carlos Costa in the early laps. In the second race, starting from 7th and 8th places Alexandre and Fernando had to battle hard to get to the top spots.

Carlos Costa had the final place of the podium within his reach, but a wrong strategy ended up placing him in the 4th place in the end of the first race. In the second race Carlos didn’t even completed the first lap, getting caught up in a first lap crash.

Christian Manzini ended the first race in the 5th place, and in the second race he took full advantage of other driver’s problems, finishing the race in the 3rd place, making this the second race with a all ABRacing podium.

Jorge Mendes struggled with his car setup, ending the race in the 12th place, and in the second race ended up in the 15th place.

Daniel Rodrigues had his share of bad luck in the first race, and finished the race in the 23rd position, and in the second race, starting from the back he recovered some places, ending the race in the 16th place.

Last but not least, Pedro Contente finished the first race in the 16th place, and in the second he got caught up in a first lap accident as well, striking Carlos car, and had to pit for massive repairs in his Porsche, ending up in the 19th place.

The Pits 2009 Bullrun 1000

ABRacing entered the 12th edition of this mythic endurance race. 165 laps around a circuit built in the Colorado Mountains, in a total of more than five and a half hours of racing. ABRacing entered with Alexandre Caetano, Fernando Bento and Carlos Costa as drivers. Alexandre Caetano qualified the car in the 15th position.

Unfortunately the winds of fortune didn’t blew in ABRacing’s direction, because Fernando and Carlos didn’t even got the chance to drive ABRacing’s Volvo in the race. On the 24th lap, while running in the 10th place, Alexandre got discoed from the server. As a matter of fact, unfortunately, the 2009 edition of the Bullrun 1000 was a real “disco-fest” (not to be mistaken with the 70’s Disco Parties). When Alexandre got discoed, another 10 teams got discoed as well, and by the end of the race there were only 5 cars, of 32, finishing the race, being the vast majority of the Non-Finishers teams who got discoed as well. ABRacing wounded up in the 23rd place.

The first endurance event of ABRacing didn’t go as planned, but we’ll have more chances for success!

ABRacing Wins the First One!!

The first races of the GT3 championship were dominated by the ABRacing team. Alexandre Caetano did the pole and won the two races. The second place was reserved for Fernando Bento who did a solid weekend. Carlos Costa did a 3rd in the first race, and in the second when he was in third, he had to quit as he went out of fuel on the last corner of the last lap. Christian Manzini did 6th and 4th, Daniel Rodrigues had a connection lost in the first race and did 14th, starting from last in the second race.

Jorge Mendes finished 14th in the first race after a problematic race with his tyres and had a connection lost in the second race. Pedro Contente had a connection lost in the first race and in the second race, starting back, he finished 11th.

It was a great result for ABRacing, placing four drivers in the top five spots in the championship table.

Congrats ABRacing!!

GT3 Summer Series by PTSims

It was the first ABRacing championship, still under the AB SimRacing Team name. It was our first championship, and we won it. Alexandre Caetano was the champion and ABRacing won the team competition.

Here are the final results

GT3 Championship by R4

The GT3 championship from R4-Sims.com is announced.

Nine car manufacturers against each other, fighting along fourteen “weekends”. Each one will have two races of 40 minutes. In the second race, the top eight finishers in race one are inverted to determine the front eight spots on the starting grid for race two, just like in WTCC.

We’ll be there!
